i have a new mahindra 5500 fwd, i have only 22 hrs on it now. my manaul said to use either
CITGO - CITGARD 500
EXXON - XD3 EXTRA
CHEVON - DELCO 400
MOBIL - DEVLAC 1300 ALL IN 15-40WT
SHELL ROTELLA +
TEXACO - URSA SUPER PLUS

i was wanting to know what other tractor people had the best luck at. i use shell rotella in my 96 dodge one-ton, it has over 140,000 miles on it, so far so good. and planned on using it in my tractor when the hrs reaches 50, but i would like other people opinion. thanks allan

Any of those would be fine. Just keep it changed and use a good filter. I used to run Delo 400 in my Kubota.... but have probably used more Rotella than anything else and I've never had any trouble.

I use the Rotella Synthetic in my tractors. Some will argue this is a waste of money. Wal Marts sells either the regular or synthetic Rotella.

As has been said, any of them will be just fine. In my area the Chevron Delo 400 (which I used) and the Shell Rotella were the two most popular oils, but that may have been because they were more readily available than some of the others. If you're using the Rotella in your truck, then I'd recommend you use it in the tractor, too, for convenience sake.

Just a reminder for anyone that would like to use Mobile synthetic oil.
The Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W-40 is the exact same thing as Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40. I wanted to use the Delvac, but didn't want the pay the high prices charged at the truck shops, that is why started buying the Truck & SUV at Wal-Mart.

The other Mobil 1 oils don't carry the heavy diesel spec. C?-4 ratings. So, I would say no.

Thats going to be MY choice! Ive looked high and low for 10W-30 oil thats DIESEL rated....and its down to buy the Kubota stuff at $3.10 a qt...or ( 1 place is willing to order it in) get Shell Rotella-T in 10W-30 at $2.90 a qt if I buy it by the CASE! ( and BOTH are Dino oil...geeze)

Im going with the Rotella Syn at $21 a gallon and wont feel bad about chaging at the prescribed time as compared to doing it earlier than the book says. (5W-40 Syn Rotella)

Ive had experience with the 15W-40 Rotella-T and the Chevron Delo in 15W-40. Cant speak for the other oils. If your manual says to USE a 15W-40...EITHER of those two will do you super fine.

You can find 10w-30 CI-4 if you look. I am using a brand called Champion which may be local to my area. It was less than $2 per quart, but that was before crude oil went crazy.
