Older 300 Suzuki King Quad

I bought an older 300 King quad from a guy. He said he had just done the rings and some other work. Anyway as soon as the thing warms up it starts smoking horribly. It almost instantaneous from no smoke to lots. Kind of a gretish stinky smoke.

Anyone had one with a similar problem or know what it might be?

Sounds like transmission oil is getting into the engine, probably a bad seal.

I believe on that model the transmission an engine crankcase use the same oil.
It could be burning oil due to the new rings not seating into the cylinder or the ring end gaps could all be lined up allowing oil a free path into the combustion chamber. Another possibility is a bad head gasket or leaky valve guides.
Whenever someone tears down a motor, many variables are added to the list of potential causes.

Makes ense. Curious as to why just when iy heats up. Maybe I should try to retorque the head and see if it helps otherwise I am guessing valve guides seal as well

my FIL has the same problem with his Quad runner. His started after being over heated. I have heard the same issues with the rings, and was hoping to pull it apart in the next week or two.
