This car has been parked behind the barn on the property I bought a couple years ago. I don't know much about this car but I am going to get rid of it. I don't want to just send it to the scrap yard if it has some value to a collector either as a whole (I doubt it as it is rusted pretty good) or for parts. So can anyone tell me more about this car and what my best options are to get rid of it? I have thought about putting it on ebay but if it isn't worth anything then there is no sense wasting money on listing fees.

Try putting it on Craigslist with the pictures you have posted and see what happens. You could take offers for a week or so and then decide whether to sell or scrap. The listing on Craigslist should be free.
Good luck, Ken

Good Evenin Robert,
My best guess is that mouse palace is destined for the scrap yard, for the going price ! ;):)

See if the local fire dept. wants it to practice cutting on. They might haul it off for free.

Getting rid of it isn't a problem. I just didn't want to haul it off to the crusher if it had value to a collector. With the forks on the TN I can put this car anywhere out of the way easily.

I think the same thing. I am going to list it on Craigslist and see if anyone makes an offer and go from there.

There might be someone looking for a car like that...never know.
I've seen worse on Craigslist..__Burnt tractors and trailers that had trees growing through the floor.

Like Scott said,

That's a mouse palace...__And in the summer it can be a snake den.

Someone will want this car for parts. That was the best Volvo of the 1960's. The wagon no less. Yours is a wee bit worse for the wear.
Craigslist might work. There are a bunch of Volvo sites. Try this one. www.matthewsvolvosite.com
or Volvo Parts, Free Tech support and Free information is available at Swedish Auto Parts (formerly TheVolvoSite.com)

There use to be two of these cars there but the previous owners son was going to restore the one and he took a couple parts off this one for that. I asked if he wanted the rest of this car and he said no and for me to do what I want with it. So I knew there was at least one guy who restores them:) Thanks for the links

I realize this thread is quite old, but I can't help but ask what happened to this car. I am restoring a '73 P1800ES and I could sure use some of the parts.

I already sent a PM to Volvoguy but figured I will update this thread for anyone else to see. I did sell the car on Craigslist. I was offered $500 for the car by a couple that was restoring a similar car and they were going to use some of the parts and sell what they don't need. It was the first offer I got so I took it and didn't mess around trying to get more. I thought it was more then fair for me and they were very happy getting it for that price. They then hired a tiltbed to come haul it to their house. It was sold within a week of when I listed it on Craigslist.

Just amazes me what turns up on this site - the last thing I thought I'd see is a P1800. Yea the old volvos are the bomb. Growing up I use to watch the Saint with Roger Moore and dreamed of owning a P1800E - almost bought a ES once but luckily I had a mechanic check it out first and they found the jack points we shot. I hope to one day find a nice example - until then I keep buying Kubota's :)

I owned an Amazon (122S) for about 8 years. I loved that old bomb.

My very first car was a '68 P1800S, which I bought in 1977 for $1300. It cost more to insure than buy, but what a great car. I'm 6'4" and if I put the leather seat all the way back I could barely reach the pedals. More legroom than any other car I've driven and the rest of it fit like a glove. I used to drive up 7 to 84 to the Taconic to the Northway every weekend to see my girlfriend at McGill. 4 speed with electronic overdrive 5th. Beautiful Smiths gauge set with tach & speedometers the size coffee saucers, water temperature, oil temperature and pressure gauges. I put a lot of miles on it, fried the head gasket, fried the wiring harness, even Lucas King of Darkness didn't stop her, but it was the systemic rust that finally did her in.
