Hello everyone. I was a member here a long time ago but I've been away so long I had to re-register.

Back in the day I bought this little satoh beaver (for $200) that needed lots of help. I planed to restore it, but really only got it running (thanks to a member here with a replacement motor) and shot a quick coat of rattle can paint on it.

I used and abused it for years, and stupidly sold the rm48 that came with it, and then let it sit out in the rain for about 5 years without even cutting the grass from under it..... well now I am motivated to restore it again .... I got it running, but the hydraulics aren't working and it looks like a rust bucket.

I know this is the right place to ask questions and of course share pics of my progress.

I need to find a service manual.... kind of a chiltons manual but for the tractor... can anyone share a good place not only to find the manual but parts as well. I remember that someone made a PTO reverser for it, but have no idea if it is still made .... a FEL will be in the plan as well as a small 3 pt backhoe but I'm getting ahead of myself.

I wouldn't use a 3pt backhoe on the Beaver. The lower mount for the 3pt only attaches with 4 small bolts. Not nearly enough for a backhoe's weight. The unit we have on our tractor uses a special saddle with bolts up and down the transmission case. More involved when switching between backhoe and 3pt, but with all of the abuse I've put this tractor through, I've never broken the bolts holding the saddle in place.

One of these days I hope to scan the owners manual for my backhoe (commercially built) since it might be of use to other people. Also ought to reach out to the folks who built it (well the successor company) and see if they can locate any old plans for it.

I too was an active member some years ago but got away from it and had to re-register.
I 'think' I've got a spare manual for my 370 out in the shop. I sold the tractor some years ago but am a packrat for things like manuals. I'll have to look.

Owners manual or something else? I want to get a shop manual and maybe a parts book at some point when other things aren't demanding my pennies.

I hate to drag up an old thread but since I mentioned my backhoe and loader, I figured I'd share some info. You can find owners manuals for many old Johnson products here Document Library - Design, Engineering and Manufacturing Solutions for OEMs, and Custom Equipment, Tractor Attachments and Backhoes Apparently these folks are an OEM for Deere and others. Traded some emails with one of their folks and got a scanned copy of the loader manual as well though they don't have it hosted on the site. No luck on drawings etc however. The backhoe manual has specs on pin diameters as well as for the bushings.

Apparently when the current parent company took over, they decided to do some housecleaning and tossed a bunch of old plans. Oh well.
