As you can see by the attached photos, I have a couple small areas where the finish on the floor is gone.

Can I touch these up with some polyurethane(like the minwax stuff from the home depot??)

I imagine a few people around here live in older homes and have had to deal with this before....any help is appreciated

You can do a touch up but will need to do a lager area to get it to blend in better. Will still be noticeable as you will be using a different finish from the original and due to aging.

Would look best to do the whole area. Could get by with a light sanding and reapply finish. Taking it down to the bare wood will give it the best finish and look.

Thanks Dave

The spots are sort of hidden so my main goal is to do this for protection of the floor.

Then just poly with HD stuff. The guy that refinished our floors said that would be fine for scratches and such. Just like Dave said don't expect color to match.

I have repaired a few spots in my home. Prep the area and find a wipe on stain that is close. Finish with Satin finish waterborne poly so it will not darken more than the surrounding finish. You can use the waterborne poly over top of standard poly.
