Old Hitch Adaptor Identification? Pic Included

Hello!

I've had this quick hitch (attached pic) for many years but this weekend I lost the pin in the picture (arrow pointing to the pin).

I have no idea where I got these hitch adaptors and I'm hoping either someone can lead me to the name of the hitch and / or where I can get a new pin!

Any help is surely appreciated!!

It's a very early version of Carter's... New ones are straight pins. They might be able to help but I would suggest finding a machine shop, some one with a metal lathe to turn you a couple new ones. I assume you have one of the old pins (from the other side?) Let them copy the measurements.

I'm not familiar with the hitch but it appears the pin is sized down where it goes though hitch. Is it possible to drill the hitch to accept a straight pin?

I don't think so, that old pin (I think) rests on top of the short "upright". The newer versions, the "shorter" upright is taller and the pin is drilled into that upright.

The pin is the part he lost, and all it is...is a pin. The rounded off end might take a little more time, but using a piece of stock the size of the pin, turn it down to the step size, then turn down the second step size, then clamp it in a mill or a drill press and drill the cross hole to retain it in the quick hitch. A longer piece of stock would probably make it easier to hold in the lathe, so parting it off once the steps are done is the only other operation. I could do it in a half hour, and I am a truck driver who happens to own a lathe.

I would have two of those pins made, because now that you have figured out how to loose them, you will continue to do so!
