If welding or brazing really isn't needed, sand blast, Fill the crack with JB weld and paint it black. It'll look great.

I deal with adhesives as part of my business and although I might choose another brand :D, I cannot argue with this advice.

The crack is directly behind the "handle hook" on the right hand side in the pictures - not visible. Its not that long - from the lip a bit over 1/3 of the way to the bottom. For use as a flower pot - the crack will make no difference. I was planning on trying to make old fashion lye soap - the crack would be a problem here.

Soo - I will try JB weld and brown spray paint and buy a couple of bars of lye soap at the local feed & seed store.
