Anyone heard yet how these people are making out from Frances?

I wish them all well. I would imagine that it will take a bit of time to get the electricity service functioning once again after the major storm.

I just got this from Soundguy:

I don't have much time to browse, as phone service is off and on. Let everyone know I'm ok so far.. just a little barn damage.. here's the details.

Power just came back on for me. I just went out and took a look at the animals. So far.. looks like no livestock losses.

A 10x16 section of my pole barn lost it's tin, and the center outside support fell in, the two outer supports are still up. I think when the wind goes away, I can brace it up with some 2x4 and re-tin it.

NAA was further up in the pole building so it is ok. 8n has a bunch of purloins and tin setting on it. Looks like noting other than dent and paint damage so far.. other than it's ignition is probably soaked.

Gotta go.. will report back later. Anyone heard from the guys on the coast? or more inland?

Got another message from Chris (Soundguy) this morning (Weds). Here's what he has to say:

I went out monday and gathered up all the loose tin to keep it from hurting anyone.

In the end, I did loose one pullet. I guess I can still count that as a decent situation.. no big livestock damage.

Damage to my tractor was limited to scratches on the fenders and hood from roofing tin and purloins rubbing on it.

I braced up the rest of the barn, and am waiting for a full repair after ivan comes thru.

My inlaws drove over from ormond beach today. They still have no power or phones.. They are elderly, and we had them over and got some warm lunch in them. I spent some time with them and then had to get back to work. The wife saw them fore a while, and they left to go home after that. They could have stayed.. but wanted to sleep in their own bed. As they are in their 80's.. hard to talk them out of it.

0ne of their other kids is bringing them a generator in the am if their power isn't on.

thanks for helping me keep in touch. Phones just finally went on ( and stayed on ) at around 5pm today. I've been so busy with the animals that i just now got time to sit in front of the computer.

Good to hear Soundguy is o.k. and with out too much damage. I’ll bet Don just doesn’t have a way to communicate with us yet. My daughter is in W. Palm Beach and we haven’t been able to get in touch yet. Power, phone and cell towers took a big hit in the Vero and W. Palm area so it could be awhile.

The remnants of the storm were in the Atlanta area yesterday. Even this far up Atlanta had 250 to 300K with out power Monday. There were some trees down and a fair amount of rain but nothing like South Florida. We got over 4” of rain and are 60 miles West of the metro Atlanta area.

Don must be in one of the areas still without power. I heard this morning on CNN from a FPL official that power may not be restored for up to another week for some customers.

things in jacksonville are ok. we are in the process of framing a house so we were real worried but everything held up ok. just alot of standing water in the house and alotta downed limbs and trees. everything smells like it was just logged because of all the tree damage. most around here have power but still some in the dark. two neighbors lost their dock. we were out of town because i went through surgery on thursday to repair three fingers i tried to cut off w/ a machete. with the damage i've seen around here, i can only imagine what it looks like south of here.
you guys pray that ivan self destructs. florida is gonna be a water logged dumpster if we get hit again this soon.

I am back...just a little busy right now...still no phones at home but got power monday. Was able to get full (3 phase) power here at work late Tuesday.
if you look at the path of the last two hurricanes they form a "x" on Fla and I am almost in the middle of that "x"
Now Ivan seems to be comming this way also
