Ok so how much weight will I lose??

I presently have a ballast box loaded with bricks as weight for my 790. This Saturday, I'm buying a 5ft rear blade at TSC. Will this make a significant difference in my performance on snow this winter? I have no loaded rear tires but do have chains on the front. Yes I know all about the chains on the front deal but they will not be under stress...it's just for a little xtra bite for my plowing needs.

Without knowing how many bricks you have in the BB, and what the new blade weighs your question is impossible to answer...

The website doesn't say how much the blade weighs. From the picture below....that ballast is loaded and is quite heavy. I guess my question is, will the weight of the 5ft blade be enough?

I guess I'll find out the hard way.:laughing: If she spins, I'll load up the ballast.:thumbsup:

The blade sits a bit further back then the ballast box. There are blades that would weigh more with the tilt and offset features and being back further.

So depending on what you bought that might give you more then the ballast box with bricks.

Its always handy to have some kind of idea of the weight you carry in your ballast box. If your bricks are all the same size, just sit one on a regular bathroom scale and do the math.:thumbsup:

the blade when down would not have hardly any weight on the tractor so you would spin when plowing.Just my 2 cents

and obviously you are new to the sarcasm department. my point to the original poster was that is impossible to draw any conclusions from what he is telling us. without any substantive data, the only thing people can do is guess.

I suspect you will spin the rear tires often when you drop the blade down. To benefit from the new rear blade you will need some rear tire chains and some rear wheel wt, either iron or liquid ...you pick.
