I feel silly posting this, but here goes. I'm new to Kioti, but grew up on a farm, and have done this hundreds of times on other equipment.

I removed the Backhoe today, to allow access to the hydraulic filter. Changed the filter, and am now ready to re-mount the backhoe. First step, reconnect the hydraulic lines. I slide back the quick coupler ring as I insert the hose end, but can't get the hose pushed far enough into the coupler to get the ring to snap back in place. This should not be that difficult! What am I doing wrong?

Is there a trick to this???

Thanks

some times they lock up I use a screw driver to releive the pressure

You have to release some of the fluid in the hose, by bumping the QD center ball or poppet. If on attachment side, place the male QD on a hard surface, and push real hard. If it is the tractor side, move the joystick through all the functions with the engine off. Last result is to unscrew the QD and release pressure. Use rag to block fluid from squirting.

Heat build up will increase the pressure in a closed system, and that is what you have with the hose cylinder, and QD's

Keep a small brass rod around for these situations.

Be careful, when bumping fitting to release pressure. Some part of the hoe may move when pressure is let off and also the rag does not always work. You don't want hydraulic fluid injected into your skin  Ken Sweet

By moving joystick to the FEL or 3 point hitch you can often reduce the pressure making it a little easier to put the hose on. Yep, been there done that.

When I remove my backhoe, before removing the quick disconnect I put the remote valve (A-N-B) to N (neutral) then I move the controls of the backhoe to relieve some pressure. As long as that selector valve is in neutral and you release some pressure by moving the backhoe controls a little, the hoses will slide right on.

Don't hit the valve with a hammer, there's plenty of better ways to relieve pressure.

So, how would relieve the pressure on an attachment that had QD's on it and has sat out in the sun. Probably everyone that has had a hyd attachment has had to do just that.

Yup, there was some pressure on the hoe side. Once this was relieved, the hose went in the coupler easy.

Thanks guys!

Relieve the pressure before you remove the attachment or store the attachment in the shade if you can't.

I can't speak for other attachments but with my bh, I just move both joysticks through all their positions along with the two stabilyzer sticks and the pressure relieves itself into at least one of the cylinders. A single cylinder attachment probably would be much harder but still worth a try.
