We make a lot of stuff from scratch. Have you looked at the ingredients on stuff from the store??? We get lots of stuff from the garden; fresh asparagus right from the garden is good! We also like garlic. We have numerous recipies that use at least a head of garlic /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Try this...
Get you a frying chicken and cut it up.
Brown that chicken in a deep skillet.
While that is browning, clean and chop up a whole head of garlic
In a little bowl, mix together 3/4 cup of vinegar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, and 2 or 3 tablespoons of honey.
Just as the chicken is finishing browning, put in the garlic and vinegar-soy-honey mix.
Cook that at a low simmer, letting the sauce reduce a bit.

Serve that over some wild rice or pasta

If ya like spicy, toss in a Thai pepper or two.

Then, when you are out work the high-wires on them poles, the skeeters will stay back a bit 'cause of all that garlic

Whats the jewelery of the foods, the god of the foods, the food of the god? It's the truffle, the most expensive food on the earth due to its very rich minerals. You know the truffle can't be cultivated or grown. It requires millions of conditions (soil, rain amount, etc etc). Its a pure natural food. Since it doesn't have a seed or plant, it's known as the food of god. Have you ever hunted truffles in the pastures? You must be the master of truffle hunting if you want to taste it. This nomad is master truffle hunter. The best food I have had was the meal I cooked in the pasture. Two pounds of truffle I found myself, two birds I hunted, 5-6 fresh chicken eggs and fresh yogurt (bought from a shepperd who was passing by me). Cooked that mixture in a pan on the stones with fire under them. You can't eat such a meal anywhere for less than $1000 (remember the price of good black truffle only isn't less than $500 per lb.) Mouth watering, isn't it?

Awe, take just the top stuff off the head of garlic, the only icky stuff on it. Drizzle it with olive oil. Place in a clay pot and slow cook at 300 degrees or so in the oven. The garlic don't taste like what you expect; kinda nutty. Spread that over some sourdough bread. Yum! Takes about an hour...

Getcha a head of garlic, a pound or two of shrimp(biguns, prawn size best). Get ya some Sauza Hornitos white tequila.

Now, take them thar prawns and shell/devein 'em. Clean up that garlic and chop up all them cloves.

throw it all in a skillet.. Now, take a shot 'o tequila.... Now pour some over them camerones, just to barely cover, just barely.

Let 'em sit for 10 or 15 minutes(no longer than that; will get too much marinate).

Put that skillet on the stove burner, and bring to a very very slow simmer. Let them shrimp cook till they're just done; not too long!

Serve them drunken camerones over a bed of fluffy rice. Serve with a margarita(made from scratch; none of that mix stuff. Remember fresh lime, teauila, and triple-sec). Margarita with salt, on the rocks, that is /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to agree, that these Maine blueberry preserves over vanilla ice-cream is fantastic. Thank you very much Todd for sending the two jars of preserves.

We just finished eating our dessert. Here is a run-down:

[*] Heated up the preserves for 45 seconds and poured over ice cream
[*] It is most delicious
[*] Daughter #1, Brittany enjoyed it.
[*] Daughter #2, Keely, ate it and wore it in the end.
[*] My wife throughly enjoyed it, but did not want her picture taken.
[*] My son really missed out, he had to work tonight. I guess he'll get a late night snack.

Just made a post about homegrown tomatoes - briefly, BLT on whole grain bread, mayo and dijon, fresh crisp lettuce, thin sliced gouda cheese placed on the warm bacon and one 1/2" sandwhich sized slice of a meaty homegrown tomato in the middle. At midnight, kids asleep, wife gone, noone to tell you that tomato juice running down both elbows is not appropriate at the dining table /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Was a gorgeous sandwich, although its life was very short, but sorry, no digital camera

never had cheese in one tough...will have to try that .....do u make yer own mayo...that miracle whip stuff is the nastiest stuff ive ever had on a sanwhich.....

i don't dislike miracle whip but it would not do on this sandwich. Miracle whip is best when you are eating flavorless store bought tomatoes because it has a little more acidity and sugar than mayo. I used Helman's mayo, just a creamy taste/texture to compliment the acidity of the tomato.

i have made my own before (with a wire whisk!!!) and it would be a cinch to do now with a food processor, but we just don't use that much mayo. but you got me thinkin'... i think i will gril some salmon this weekend and make a lemon/dill mayo to decorate the fish. And to any northwestern foodies out there, no i cannot get real salmon like ya'll are lucky enough to have (spring time right?)
