Oil light comes on my TN65

The other day, while brush-hogging, I noticed the oil light come on the dash panel. I immediately shut down the engine to check the oil level. It was up to the "max" level on the stick.

I started the tractor up again and it went out, then it started flickering. No engine heat up or weird sounds.

I disconnected the wire from the oil sending unit and the light went out. I'm guessing this is a bad oil sending unit.

Anyone have any similar experiences, or should I be digging deeper for any problems.

The oil pressure sender in my TN 65 went out but it went open, no light at all. The sender was back- ordered all the way to Italy and took forever to get here. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Being that your light is flickering I would stick a manual test gauge on it to make sure the sender is bad and that you don't have an oil pressure problem.

I agree with Bgott...with the addition of calling the dealer.

If something is wrong internally and you run it even though the idiot light is on, I believe you will be hard pressed to get the warranty to pay for a complete engine rebuild.

Just my 2 cents.

Picked up the new oil sending light from the dealer ($16.50)...it only took a week to get it. Changed oil/filter and then the oil sending unit.

Started it up and the oil light only came on momentarily until oil was distributed throughout the engine.

Ran the engine for at least a half hour and the light never came on. Cause: faulty oil sending unit.

Why couldn't I find this thread yesterday My TN65 is experiencing the exact same problem. I have a sending unit on order now.
