oil for deere 5103

i just bought a John Deere 5103 new (being delivered today). I use Rotella in all my heavy equipment and diesels. Any recommendations for weight and type of oil for the new Deere? I commonly use 30W in my machines.

Your owners manual will specify the weight/grade of the oil to use. Not using the recommended weight/grade oil can void your warranty. and yes the Rotella should be fine as long as it is the right weight/grade.

Deere will send you a coupon for free oil/filter for your first oil change on the 03. After that Rotella will be fine. Rotella exceeds specs that is required for JD. We use 15w40 in everything diesel.
