Oil filter question

I'm looking to buy fleetguard filters for my new Dodge and checked their web site, I found the filter that I needed for my truck but it has an upgrade that is about twice the cost, it's called a stratapore.

Has anyone used this filter and is it worth twice the price, it's still not a bad price if it will work as they claim.

You may want to check Dodge Cummins and Ford Power Stroke Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage for good pricing.. Ijust ordered from them and the stratapore was $11 there and the standard was about $6. They also offer a 30,000 mile maintenance kit that includes 4 stratapore oil filters, 2 fuel filters and 1 air filters - for my truck, 2002 24v) the kit was $84

There is also a Ryder Fleet website that you can order Fleetguards off of..

I dont mind spending the extra money for a great filter.. But others will disagree

The Fleetguard "Stratapore" media is a melt blown polymer. Fleetguard has a patent on the product.

It's a very high quality filter and one of the few I use. You might try checking the price at your local International truck (oops, Navistar) dealer. Fleetguard is owned by Cummins and is a normal stocking product for International dealers since they use Cummins engines in their trucks.

Thanks guys for the info.

I was going to buy the fleetguard for the new pickup, buy a case of Baldwins for the V-10 and use the Kubota filters for the tractor but I might just get the fleetguards for everything if their that good, they don't really cost that much more over the long haul.

IF they made a Stratapore filter for the tractor or my wifes car (they take the same filter) I would go with them.. But my truck is the only stratapore filter they make for my applications..

Your right that they don't make a Strataphore filter for my V-10 that I can find, they do make a regular fleetguard filter though but it cost about 5 bucks more than the Strataphore.

I heard Donaldson were good filters and looked them up, price is not to bad but the pressure relief is listed at 18 to 23 lbs, all the other filters I've looked at are 8 to 11 lbs, anyone know why the pressure is so much more and will it hurt anything by having that much more pressure?
