oil filter for YM2420

Hey folks, I have a YM2420 and changed oil and filter in it for the first time today. Question on oil filter. Had a powerflo brand filter on it. Went to NAPA and asked them to cross it, couldn't, so having noticed that the 2420 engine is the same as the YM276 from the posts, got a filter for a 276. When I got home noticed that the new filter was same diameter but longer than the powerflo. Gasket same on new filter as old. Assuming that the NAPA for the 276 is OK for the 2420. Is that a good assumption? NAPA also didn't carry the Shell rotella oil, but they recommended a multigrade Chevron 15/40 for diesel engines. Am I OK with that oil? Thanks for the assistance. Great site, am learning a ton. Happy with my Yanmar, just don't want to mess up.

I don't know about the Yanmar filters, but the Chevron Delo 400 (15W-40) is the only engine oil my brothers and I ever use in a diesel. Not that it's necessarily any better than others, but it's at least just as good and readily available almost anywhere.

Shell Rotella is available at Walmart, I just pick it up when I'm there.
