I use a Fram 3593A on my 2010D. I built & posted a database on the old Yahoo Owners Group for a place for all to go. Not many have used it, though!

OK, so now we have 2 different numbers for a NAPA filter. Which one is correct? NONE of them. Buy the right one from Yanmar. Cost me 7 bucks or so.

Inspector,
It has nothing to do with the price of the filter. Needed something quick to complete a job I'm doing where a stick punctured the filter. Unfortunately Yanmar isn't in my neighborhood, and my parts man can't read Japanese.

I will order the proper filter (along with spares) when I get a chance. Thanks for the warning.

When people go to have their oil changed in their Ford Bronco do they specify Motorcraft filters? How about specifing AC Delco for your Chevrolet? Why must one have Yanmar filters on a tractor that they use 5% the amount of time compared to ones transportation source?
And I sell Yanmar parts!

Thanks,
Bruce

You must have missed the posts, one number was for a Fram filter and the other number was for Napa filter, they probably cross to each other. For convenience sake, I don't see a problem using other than Yanmar filters, any NEW filter that fits properly is better than a DIRTY/OLD/BROKEN Yanmar filter! They key here is to protect your engine with a filter and change the oil regularly, it will last a lifetime if you do.

Most of the small Yanmars (1401, 1510, 2010, etc.) use the same oil filters. Napa 1334 or Fram 3593A. The Fram filter is the same that is used on the Acura Vigor and Integra, also. So I guess you could go with a Honda/Acura filter if you wanted a Japanese filter. Personally, I don't use Yanmar diesel fuel in my tractors...
