Oil Dripping From Starter

( I think this may change the problem. I looked at this oil and come to find out it isnt engine oil like I thought. It is the hyraulic/trans oil )

I mentioned both crankcase rear main seal, and tranny input shaft seal. Both prime suspects for oil in the bellhousing.. just have to figure out what oil you see.. then go from there.. looks like you have.

OK, but where's the "extra" oil coming from? And why has his hydraulic oil changed color? Is there an oil cooler tied to the cooling system? I had that happen on an Audi once, antifreeze was getting into the trans oil -what a mess!

It pretty much has to be rain water in the hy/tran fluid.

If the tractor sits out in the weather, it will get in there. Usually through a leaky shifter boot over time.

I am in the process of building a garage for my tractor, but untill then its outside. Yeah yeah cover it up or something huh which I now have done. About 2 or so weeks ago yeah we did get a **** of a storm with about 3 inches of rain and I guess that could explain the full off color fluid level. Look at my next post I have another question not related to this one.

The seal from his transmission is worn & leaks hyd.fluid,which runs down & is picked up by the flywheel & sprayed around the bell housing,which has an opening for the stater gear,then the oil drips into the starter & leaks on the floor.
