Anyone know what is considered normal oil usage during break in? I did not precisely check level at delivery but at 10 hours I had to add almost a quart to get it from the "Add" line back to center of cross hatched marks on dipstick. The manual recommends JD break in oil for first 100 hours so that is what I added.

I had to add about 2L of oil within the first 100 hours on my 5093e. It hasn't burned any noticable amount since then.

It's a little hard to tell on my 5055, as I bought it with 30hrs on it. When I got it it was about 1 1/2qts low. I topped it off with their brake in oil, and the level hasn't moved much. I'm now around 70hrs.

Thanks. I am suspecting that as I put more time on mine the oil consumption will taper off. The manual says use Break-in oil first 100 hrs. That oil looks pretty thin to me. Guess they know what they are doing

my last go kart had the same problem. I wouldn't bother with warranty on it. Just ad a bottle of motor honey to the crankcase and it gets rid of the burning. I think it gets into score marks and seals it up. anyway it worked great and sealed up the motor oil burning. just ad a quart at every oil change. heres what it looks like. they sell it at advanceauto and pepboys or stores of the like

My 5065E has nearly 70 hours on the clock (delivered at the end of April this year). It was about half way on the dip stick at around 40 or 50 hours. I topped it up then and I haven't needed to do it since. I check it every day before starting.

What you discribe, is for worn out engines. The OP's engine needs to break in.
