My owners manuel states to use 10w30 oil for my oil change. It's difficult to find 10W30 that is diesel rated. Why is the Oil recommended 10W30 and not 15W40 like most other diesel engines I've had?

Maybe 10W-30 is the most common in Korea where the tractor was made? Or maybe they're a little behind in updating manuals? I don't know, but I think most of us use 15W-40 in various brands with the Shell Rotella and the Chevron Delo 400 being the most popular, or at least the most common.

Vince do you run 5w-40 year round? I changed from 15w-40 to 5w-40 in my LK3054 this winter for easier start ups. Seems to be helping.

Kendall super-D 10-30 is what we use in the ck20.... many of the larger tractors do use the 15-40. I think it has to do with better oil flow for the smaller engine.

Yes, I run it year round.

After seeing Vince's post a while ago and that Wal-Mart carries the 5-40 synthetic, I put that in last summer. No problem with the summer heat and winter start ups haven't been a problem. I'd also like to think I'm protecting it a little more with synthetic. CK30hst
