I would like to see if there is a consensus on oil change intervals on CUT's (after the initial breakin). JD recommends 200 hours for my 4400. I notice a lot of you change every 100 hours. I use Rotella dino 15-40 routinely with a new filter. The cost is not an issue but if the oil is good to 200 hours I hate to waste it.

JerryT,

I change my 4700 at the intravals speced in the manual.
Maybe a bit less. My next oil change is about 25 hours or
so away. I'm going to send the oil in for analysis and see
what the lab report says....

The test is only 20 bucks or so and I'm doing this on my new
truck as well. I wish I had done it when the tractor was new.

Later,
Dan McCarty

I'd go by whatever your manual recommends Jerry. Using a quality oil like Rotella I think you would just be pouring away good oil if you change it sooner than recommended. My last change was a bit over 200 hours, 220, and the oil still looked good. Not clear like new but it wasn't black either.

i changed the oil and filter on my kubota at 25 and 50 hrs..the kubota service at 50 is required..i then changed the filter and oil at 100 hrs installing amsoil15w-50hd diesel oil an a kubota filter..i will follow the kubota service schedule for the oil (every 100 hrs but i will also change the filter at this time even though kubota says every 200 hrs) george

Most CUT don't get alot of use, make sure you change the oil annually if you are not putting many hours on the machine.

I change the oil and filter every 50 hours which turns out to be twice a year for me. $40/yr is cheap insurance.

I run heavey equipment we change oil every 300 hr. Test every other time oil is fine. 15w40 Rotella.

JerryT,

This is a very opinionated subject and you will have to make up your own mind on what and when to do it, but since you asked here is mine. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have a 4510 with 7 hours on it, at 50 hours I will be changing the oil as recommended. After that I'm deveating to 100 hour intervals. I will also be using Amsoil and I should be able to go a lot longer than even recommended intevals, but the cost of oil is cheap compared to the cost of an engine rebuild. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If you want to make sure your oil is good at 100 or 150 hours do what Dan is doing, get an oil analysis, it's the only way to know for sure /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The conditions and how you use your tractor will have an effect on your oil.

Hi...

Where/how is the oil analysis done ?

Thanks...

Dave...

We use Schaeffer oil analysis.
I buy the bottle through my local dealer.
You can collect oil from the pan when you change if you are careful not to contaminate.
We have a small hand pump, we draw the oil out of the dipstick tube.
