OH NO

/ OH NO #61
On driving in the 'good old days' of 2 lane interstate highways. I made many trips NY-Washington state. Posted was usually 60 in open country. Usually cruising and "flow" was around 65. Always a thrill back then to hit the Montana border. NO POSTED LIMIT - rule was 'reasonable and proper' but it was up to the cop to prove you were exceeding that.

The problem was it was also 'open range' with critters having the ROW. Fun to come up over a rise doing whatever the car I had would do and see a sea of sheep blocking the road, of course going my direction. There is no easy way to get through something like that, creep along and try to force animals out of the way, herders were of no help. Of the many times I ran into sheep herds being moved I don't recall ever meeting one coming toward me.

Last trip I made out there was 1968 in a 54 chev 4 dr loaded to the gills with all my property (I was on a 'Change of station' transfer) including a complete motorcycle stuffed into the rear seat. Great for driving after dark, headlights showed the tops of the trees very well :)
