Oh I want this drill press

I picked up a champion 16" belt drive drill press last spring from Craig's list in Fort Langley. They do come along. I am working on mounting a motor to drive it (moving at glacial speed). The boss said it would make a nice coffee table.

I think we'd (me anyways) like some pics, camshawn.

I've seen the friction drill demoed at a trade show. The guy was drilling by hand with a larger Craftsman drill press.
There's an antique drill press on the Charlotte Craigslist right now for $450. It looks like it even has a guard over the flat belts. Here's the description:
Very large drill press. Has flat belts. Works great. Bits included. Over 6ft tall. Excelsior 21"
Build industrial tough.

If they have taper shaft drill bits included I would snatch it up, These type drill bits are expensive. The 21" Royersford excelsior is a big drill press and will take a bit of room so plan ahead, Look for broken gear teeth and missing parts.
Here's a diagram for this dp.

This is more my speed, She'll do a 2" twist drill without grunting. I found it on craigslist two weeks ago for 300 bucks, I just can't see these ole giants go to scrap when they have many more hole drilling in them.

My brother has a drill press very much like that one, he has had it for many years and it still works perfectly...

Mines a bit newer and has all gear drive with a shift able transmission, the huge table is nice too,

It easily powers it's way through anything I've ever wanted to drill a hole in,

I don't use it a lot, but when I need it, it's pretty handy!

another picture.
The boss said if I do not get it running soon, she will move it into the family room and make it a coffee table with a clip-on reading lamp.

Awesome, Cam. Was it that clean when you got it??

Don't move it to the family room. You do know I'm only a ferry ride away, right?:D
