Just wondering if there is any negative issues utilizing the tax free diesel. The warning on the pump says that it could have sulpher greater than 500ppm. Obviously the upside is the 70 cents per gallon savings. But if the downside is engine issues...forget it!

BTW, the diesel is for my new 5030 HSTC. I have right about 20 fun working hours on it and can't wait to put more!!!

I appreciate your input,

KG

That's right. More sulfur in the fuel means more sulfuric acid in your crankcase.

If there were any major problems, every farmer of an size wouldn't be using it. Go ahead and use it.

In another couple of months it won't make a bit of difference anyway. LSD or S500 or fuel with >500 ppm of sulphur is going the same way as the dinosaurs. It will be disappearing. :( Since today the big refineries cannot by law make it any more only the small refineries will be making it. This means supply will be extremely limited for the next 2 years when it will be discontinued altogether. I would expect the price to increase accordingly, even without the federal tax.

Everyone will be using ULSD. That's a fact and everyone better start to realize it. Older machinery should be using an additive to insure proper lubrication.

California residents have no choice. As of September 1 you can only buy ULSD.
