hey i live in georgetown ky and i need to know if anybody knows the cheapest place to get off-road diesel for my farm

Chris, the cheapest I've seen here in the Portland Oregon area is where I buy mine. It's $1.95 per gallon for off road.

0.24 road tax per gallon is the difference.

There is usually about a 50 to 55 cent gap between on and off road fuel. ON ROAD $2.35. OFF ROAD $1.85.

$1.39 on road diesel @ The Loading Zone, Bethlehem, (formerly Farmfresh).

With regard to our .42 per gallon road tax, in my case it's a "Pay me now or Pay me later" situation. I am a Commercial Mower without an Ag. state tax exemption, So I either pay Road Tax @ the pump, OR I pay 6% sales tax on "Off Road Fuel". Remember , Road Tax = Per Gallon, Sales Tax = Per/Dollar amount. When Off Road Fuel was $4.00+ per gallon, I would pay .42/gal. Road Tax for on road, or .24/per dollar for off road.

HOWEVER, at tax time I get 100% of my road tax back, I get 0% of sales tax back.

The other issues that I have had problems with "Off Road Fuel.

My only Off Road Source keeps banker's hours, 8 to 4:30 M-F no Sat or Sun, Pump/Tank located where I can't get my trailer tank close enough, so I resort to barrels and handle it another time. The fuel usually has a Bacterial Growth, requiring a Killing Additive, Fuel Becomes Slimey. This is the second source where I have had this problem.

The Red Dye used "East of the Mississippi", Leaves a white dust residue (as does the dyed Kero.) when burned in a torpedo heater. The red dye actually clogs the ceramic filter in my VAL 6 infrared heater.

I'll buy mine at a high volume pump at my convenience, Thank You. My 2 cents worth after 20 years of diesel experience.

Here in Northeastern NC, on-road diesel is going for $2.39 per gallon. I just ordered 150 gallons of off road diesel at $1.85 per gallon.

Off road ought to be about 90 cents then.

At 1.39 it'd almost be worth driving from Marietta to Wheeling to get it wouldn't it.? - = L . B .
