Guys,

It has been a while, but I'm not a n00b as I used to be, but today something odd happened.

I was dropping the stump grinder and switching to bush-hog, and the 3pt lever would NOT lower the grinder until I lowered the DRAFT lever? The draft lever has never really done anything for me, and now it is preventing lowering, and actually raising the 3pt?????

What am I forgetting or doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!
Be well,
David

There is a nob just under the drivers seat, it adjust the lowering speed. If it's set too far it won't lower the 3pt. It's easy to knock and therefore stop the three point lowering check it out.

Hi David, good to see you again. Yes turn the knob under the front of the seat rail counterclockwise until the implement falls to earth. Adjust to your taste for drop speed each individual weight..

On my tractors, if I put the draft control lever up the three point arms will not drop all the way. It's always been that way and I get draft control on everything.

I think KiotiJason and James (KOua) have you covered. The knob under my seat has been vibrating itself to the slow(off) side of the house on occasion lately. A couple of turns and we're back in business!

Guys,

So I know about the silver knob. That was a panic attack a couple years ago and TBNers responded faster than my dealer!

My big concern is this is DIFFERENT than it has been the last 160 hours of operation.

I need to do some more bush hogging so I will play with all the components some more, but I seem to recall the draft had no effect on my 3pt at all, and now I cannot lower the 3pt without lowering the draft (plus after messing with silver knob it drops super fast).

Lots of crazy changes going on in my life, Divorce finalized last month, clear-cut logging started last week, too many things to list...

Be well all my good friends!
David

What isn't the same? Is it possible you had the draft control lever all the way down in the past and left it that way? In that case, your lift arms would raise and lower without interference or obstruction.

Should you begin to raise the draft control lever, there is a relationship between that draft control and your position control lever that could cause the lift arms to stop in the middle or, if you had the draft lever all or most of the way up, prevent any movement in the arms. I have installed draft control on a couple of tractors and the installation process requires adjustment and you go though the process of adjusting the lever until the arms stop and then backing off a little.

I would try lowering the draft control lever all the way and leave it there. See if that returns things to what you recall. If things are still not what you remember, I would guess the draft control lever needs an adjustment but don't go there just yet. It's not likely to need adjustment. Advise what you find and welcome back to putting some hours on the tractor.

Correct. Draft control is meant to lift the 3pt depending on the pressures against the top link (each of the three holes the top link can go in on the back of the tractor provide different levels of draft sensitivity)...

When using ground engaging equipment like a plow, you adjust the draft control up so the plow won't run too deep and bog or stall the tractor.

Anytime draft isn't being used (mowing, post hole digging, FEL work), the control should be all the way forward/down and not be moved. With it down all the way, the position control will react as expected.

Good points...
I've not run anything off the 3pt for some time and it is most likely to be operator error.

Hmmm....

Be well,
David
