New member here with a new NX4510HST. I only have about 8 hours on the tractor and haven't identified a particular problem with the HST. However, whenever the range selection is in any position other than High or Neutral between High and Medium, the CAL light and the yellow Cruise Control light flicker in a random pattern although I think they flicker together. The dealer suggested a loose connection under the switch plate that may have been caused when they installed a remote hydro. I checked them all but found none that appeared loose. I am wondering if a re-calibration is necessary. Is there a document that describes the calibration process that is understandable? All I have seen is copied from the service manual and it is sorely lacking in step by step instructions. Or maybe I just don't understand what it is telling me to do and what to expect?

Chasing down electrical gremlins isn't really in your service manual. The procedure is more done with a test light and a multi-meter. Off the top, I think you have a bad ground. Bad ground, as in a loose wire or bad connection on the ground side. Sadly, my memory is fading as to where the harness is grounded since it has been over two years since I had everything exposed. Call up your dealer and they'll either want to get your NX into their shop or chase a tech out to your tractor to sort out the electrical.

This is the best photo I have of the backside of that electrical panel taken a couple of years ago.

Thank you for the quick response. I was wondering if you would reply as I have been reading lots of your material all over this site. It just seems odd to me that there are two positions in the range selector that don't exhibit the problem and the console display still shows the correct range or neutral. I did speak with the tech at my dealer and he thought there was a loose wire as well. The theory is that a wire was knocked loose when the remote was added to the tractor. They didn't seem to think the problem warranted special attention and could be dealt with at the 50 hour service. However, I find it annoying at best.

Speaking of service manuals, do you know of a good place to obtain a PDF version?

Also, if the HST does need calibration, does the CAL light stay on? And I am still curious to know if there is a better explanation of the calibration steps. The information I have seen printed is apparently poorly translated from Korean and is not very good in my opinion.

It'll may come down as a bad connection inside of the switch itself. You might, just for giggles, with the key off, try connecting and disconnecting the transmission range selector switch. You'll need to look up its location in the manual, as all I quickly found on page 4-75 is the transmission safety switch.

I think that is a rheostat that is hooked to the range selector through an extra arm. It is round and has a wire coming out the back and going to a connector. I was going to do just what you suggest but I haven't found a way to reach it. It is high up under the seat above and in front of the rear axles so it is difficult to reach even with my long arms when lying on the ground. But when I thought about it, the dash indicators always indicate the appropriate range or neutral, so I have my doubts that that is the problem.

I guess I will just have to have the dealer look at it unless someone else that has seen this issue chimes in here.

Do you know where I can obtain PDF versions of the service manual.

Thank you for the info. Most sources I found do not have the manuals for the NX series.
