Scott Equipment has sold out to Progressive Tractor. Progressive won't be dealing Mahindra. So, I now am an hour away from my nearest dealer. Having a dealer in town was a huge plus. Now I have to try to build a relationship with a dealer who didn't make any money off my initial purchase. Just sucks any way you look at it.

Had a similar experience in May 2005 when I bought a new Kubota B7510HST from a local dealer who had been in business 35 years. He sent me a gift card for Christmas 2005 thanking me for my business. Then in Jan 2006 I get a letter from him saying he's going out of business.

You rarely know beforehand when something like this is going to happen. Fortunately there were several dealers within 50 miles of my place. I handle all the maintenance myself, bought the parts from one of those other dealers, and never had to haul the tractor into a dealer's service center during the three years I owned that 7510.

Good luck with your new dealer.

Most dealers would prefer to keep the shops full of work regardless of who sold it. Shops probably make more money than sales at most small dealers anyway.

Had the same thing happen to me and your lucky only an hour to the next dealer. My next dealer was over 3 hours one way lucky for me I never had to take the tractor in for work. Then another dealer only an hour away picked up Mahindra so I have my fingers crossed so far never had to take the tractor in for service work. Good luck.

My local dealer claims to be the #1 single location Mahindra dealer in the US. I don't know if it is true, but they sure do have a lot of stuff on the lot and go through a lot of it. I would probably cry in your situation; best of luck...

Quite true. The dealers normally get paid rather well by the manufacturer for warrantee work they do no matter where the tractor was bought. I had this experience with another brand. HOWEVER, you may well suck hind tit for shop priorities and schedules. In your case it sounds like the nearest same-brand dealer is an hour away and that is bad news from any angle. I doubt if Mahindra is going to reimburse a non-Mahindra dealer or shop for service work. A good dealer and service dept is almost the number one factor in owning any tractor -- second only to reliability and not having to use the dealer in the first place.
