I think for some people it is easier to imagine the end of the world than imagining they're going to end and the world will go on.
This. The world will not end, it'll just change. People will survive, and generations will carry on, and we'll adapt. I have young children still I'm willing to fight for and preserve.

That's the same attitude people had during the depression and the dust bowl. My parents ate weeds and thought things might be over as they knew it. Well, it wasn't. Three-four generations later, we're still here. I'm sitting on my couch under a nice warm blanket thinking about what to eat for breakfast, talking to people from all over the world.

Every generation has its thoughts about the past and the future.
Which is exactly why I only prepare for things within my control. Every person gets to decide how prepared they need to be based on the risks they perceive.

I still think the biggest threat facing US is famine. I'm preparing for that.

Possily caused by a massive volcanic eruption, or these freaks that want to eliminate fertilizer could be the source of the famine.

I don't believe they want to eliminate it, but reduce it. In places where "they've" checked, show most have a large amount of nitrogen just sitting above the aquifer. From over application of fertilizer. Not really surprising as most farmers i knew, got their application rates from the people that sold them the fertilizer, then add to our, "just a bit more's got to be good" and voilà.
