I had a pink t-shirt once. Got it right after washing some red socks with the rest of the clothes. My bride wasn't happy. So now I have more time for other things.

I hope bowling is not in the "not so manly pursuits category". I bowl twice a week in leagues and bowl in the state, southeast and seniors tornaments. I carry a 175 average, so I'm not that great, but do have a lot of fun. So, does that qualify bowling into that (not so manly pursuits) category or the fact that my average is 175.

"I hope bowling is not..."

Probably not, but it's getting close, especially if you do it with the Red Hatters and you only score 65. ;)

Does shaping clay count? Usually shaping the female figure tho...
Is digital paint more manley than it's contemporary couterpart?

I personally think that "Tupperware parties" takes the cake for girliness. And once read an article in Cosmo which supported that theory.

bowling on a league is manly. Bowling for fun is not.

I shaved below the belt once...
But it was to get rid of the critters (long time ago guys). I suppose it would've been more manly to use a straight razor, but I mean c'mon, who has a straight razor these days. (Uhm, those days) It would certainly be much more manly to allow someone else to use the straight razor... Guts galor!

Made curtains for the back window of my truck way back in the day... American Flag - tho.

Hey, Rambo knew how to sew. Gonna tell him he's girly?

Oh, and, speaking of Dr Henry Cloud..

I read self help books - and even write them, too. (As if there is any such thing as "self-help")

"Build something with the directions" - you mean a fire right?

If you feel compelled to make a list of your qualifications as a man, you might not be 100% qualified. A real man is secure enough in his identity that he can wear pink, have an "umbrella drink", or sit and watch a chick flick with the Mrs and never question his own masculinity. Opinions of others are merely that...opinion. It's what you think of yourself that counts in the end.

(I heard that on Oprah the other day;))

Doesn't the fact that you heard it on Oprah qualify you for this thread???:D

Cityfarma

That was what you'd call a "tongue in cheek" comment. Oprah isn't exactly on my list of "gotta watch" shows.

I remember a Clint Eastwood movie from back in the 80's (Heartbreak Ridge?) where he played Gunnery Sgt Highway in the Marines. He was sooooo tough and manly that he had to resort to reading Cosmo and Red Book just to help him understand the fairer ***. Now if Clint Eastwood can read women's magazines then who am I to say it isn't manly? Of course, I'm no Clint Eastwood either.

If I thought for even a second that reading Cosmo or Red Book would help me understand the fairer ***, I'd subscribe to BOTH....IMMEDIATELY. But, after 40 years of marriage, 2 daughters, and 3 grand daughters, there simply is NO UNDERSTANDING what makes them tick. ;)

I'm sorry dear! (Just in case any of 'em are reading)

Well I'm a girl but i like to do "boy things" I LOVE farming, pruning trees clearing the land and keeping the weeds at bay. I LOVE my Stihl combi system that has a nifty small chainsaw at the end. I like building things and fixing things, recently built screens adn repaird a cocktail table. Just the other day drilled a hole through the railing and installed a rain gage wo we can see it right out the kitchen window.

I actually have "my' tools and my hsuband can't use them unless he asks me. he leaves tool laying around and I cna't stand that. i buy all the tools, even the chainsaws and my hsuband is quite happy with this arrangement. I love using a new dril bit for the first time and have it slide through the medium i am drilling through. I jsut drilled a bunch of holes through the concret block houses we have over here, and laid out a cable over to our guest house for wirless internet. I bought a brand new cement drill bit aobut 16 inches long and on the last hole i had to sharpen the bit. Seems the floors over here are solid concrete and the floors i found are much harder to dril through.

The only thing i am not thrilled about doing is driving the tractor. I don't liket he fact that it doesn't have usspension like a car and i am worried about tipping over as we ahve very steep hillsides here. But I do throw out the fertilizer using a dustpan sitting on th 3ph wagon while my hubby drives the tractor.

he is a chef so he is great in the kitchen (oh and other rooms ,but i better not go into detail here) and does 90% of the grocery shopping and cooking. Actually he is not very handy at all but he has learned to operate the tractor pretty good. I do all painting and home repairs etc.

I also do like girly things, I sew and it has been years since i crocheted but I like doing that and i do design work for all our labels I design and print all of our brochures business cards etc. So I like girly things and manly things. Least favorite though is cleaning the house... About the only thing i miss from my previous more "affluent" (I don't like the word affluent but i cna't think if a diffrent one) lifestly in the states when my hbby owned 2 restaurants and i had a good job at GE was having the weekly cleaning lady. i do miss that. My husband generally keeps the floors up by sweeping and he does keep the kitchen clean and does the dishes most of the time. But when it comes to the real cleaning and laundry i have to step up. Officially I would think most people would call us an "odd couple" but hey it works for us. Just don't use my tools without asking....

I really enjoy the TBN website and really enjoy reading and learning about tractors, implements and jsut ways to do things. my husband has zero to offer in that area so i enjoy learning from you guys. Now jsut for good measure a nice girly smiley face :)

Gentlemen, I think we have a winner!

Husband of Rox.:D

There is nothing that anyone can do that is "not so manly" as having to ask your wife to use her tools.

Rox, if the thread was titled "Not so girly pursuits" you would definitely be the winner!

We're am anxiously awaiting the tasting of winning couples award winning olive oil this weekend.

Thanks in advance from the Texas group.
