Not new to the site, but new to this section...

Hey all, I've been on TBN for a few years now, ever sinceI purchased my small Kubota for my personal use around the yard and 6.5 acres of cabin property I own. Haven't really looked around the site until recently and saw this section that is right up the alley of my new job.

A buddy of mine that I met a couple years back on vacation owns a company that does tree mulching/grassland restoration. He called me back in July '10 to come down and work for him. I'd been laid off from the railroad for most of the last few years, so I went down to check out his operation.

Mostly working for the big ranches in northern AZ, but also some BLM and Forest service work. He has two of these machines, mine is a 670, his is a bit larger. Here are a few pics of my machine and the areas I'm working in...

He also owns a GyroTrac, but it's not in the area of the country we are working in. I haven't seen it yet. Gotta love the AZ winters compared to Utah where I'm used to.

In the last pic, that is a piece of RR track sticking out of the ground. The area I was working was along an old highway route that had been rerouted about a half mile to the south. This piece of rail was about where the side of the old highway would have been. I ground a tree, and just a few feet from the stump was that bad boy, would've really messed the head up if I had hit it.

Are yall just select cutting the scrub brush? It's nice when you can clear everything, without having to do alot of backing up.

Each area we work has a prescription set up by the entity we ar working for. Usually based on diameter of the tree trunk, or by overall height of the tree. For instance, the area I'm working right now, all juniper under 16 inches diameter at the base have got to go. All pinyon under 11 inches have got to go, and ponderosa under 8 feet tall also go.
