On one of my routes (a two lane road) I had it down to running water. (the plow truck with wing had a salt shaker body on it. Plow first and then pound the salt to the residue to make running water.) I was making the last pass over it to make sure it was in fact all running water when I rounded a corner/curve in the road and there was a huge pile of snow right in the middle of my wet road. (I IS in fact against the law in Ontario to put snow on the road.) I hit the lever for the front plow to go down (this is what is called a 'one way' plow) and pushed the snow up onto the front lawn of the place it had come from. The guy that was plowing out that place had put it on the road. He was plowing with his window open. I filled the box of his truck and the cab. A brand new Dodge 4X4. that little escapade cost me $300.oo to detail his precious goat. The company I was working for reimbursed me after I gave them the receipt.

So who made you pay? and Why exactally? You were doing your job, someone did something illegal and got a truck full of snow, and YOU or your company have to pay?????? I just dont get it??

Good thing you didnt take a video and put it on youtube:mur:

That guy shouldnt have been fired. he was doing his job. And enjoying it. Whats wrong with that?

The same people that complain (like some of the comments on youtube) about being plowed in and suggesting that plow drivers raise their blades for drives/cars etc......are the same people who b**ch cause the roads arent plowed fast enough...

I had a choice to make. (The guy was a relative of the patrolman that was on duty that day, and he wouldn't find me the paperwork that shows the bylaw number and fine involved. He did 4 days later.) The company in order to save their contract told me to pay and with the receipt they would reimburse me, which they did. The company just wrote it off. I still work for the same company, I just don't plow snow any more but not for that incident. When you plow snow for a municipality or the highways department you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. So I will be damned if I will do it for anyone anymore other than myself. I have a few neighbours that pay me in ca$h and thank me for the job I do.

I still don't own a video camera.

As for Mark the dawg, he is just guilty of enjoying his job and running his mouth off on the video.

According to aczlan, they did.
I know, the cars were parked illegally and the (the owners of the cars) have absolutely no room to b!tch. But they will anyway.

People that can, do. People that can't, b!tch and whine and cry until they get their own way.

I just need to clarify. If you can handle massive dumptrucks with wingplows or move mountains of snow with payloaders all night then you get all my respect. You have no resemblance to the people that I'm complaining about.

I wish some of these Mr. Plow guys would just practice at home a bit before releasing the damage on my innocent mailbox or leaving disasters for us decent people to try to fix up.

I wonder if someone who starts driving tractors and plowing with front-end loaders etc.. at an early age develops more of a "feel" for the ground and their surroundings. There is an art to it I guess. Or maybe, not everyone is going to purchase a tractor but anyone can put a plow on their truck. Basically, someone without the experience/ mechanical/ operating abilities just puts a plow on the front of their truck....and look out world!
Does this sound right?

I started in 1980 on a truck plow in Toronto. Did 5 years in Toronto 3 on truck plow and 2 on a 555 Wabco 14' moldboard with a 8' wing.

I know who you are complaining about. I hate them too. I don't have a mailbox at the end of my driveway. I get my mail from a 'group box' at the end of my street, along with 20 other people. I keep that cleaned out, too. For free. In summer the rural route driver will bring parcel post right to the house. (I told her NOT to come to the house in the winter.) That is my payment for cleaning out the boxes.

That sounds exactly right. And you gotta have eyes in the back of your head. Never, ever rely on John Q Citizen to actually read the sign on the back of the grader that says to stay back 50'. They don't know what 50' is. ****, they don't know what 10' is. [**** opposite of heaven]

The kid I took a contract away from thinks his Polaris 4X4 is a tank and he can ram anything that wont move by just pushing. He made a mess out of a friends' place. I went in with the blower and cleaned it up and I still have the job. The more he screws up, the more work I get.:)

This is a great thread. My favorite plowing video ever. Lot of swearing I hope they don't pull the post so don't click on it unless you are ready! When I come home after a bad day I sit at the bar, crack a beer or two and put this one on the set.

tHe Dawg!

Lucky for me, the three guys that have plows on my road all have them on little 4X4's. You know the ones made by Polaris and Honda. The one couldn't plow his way out of a wet paper bag. He lost one contract to me.:) One of the other two calls me when he can't move his snow any more and I blow it for him. $20.oo:thumbsup: The third guy just moved here and he is good with his plow, so far. I imagine I will need to blow his banks back soon. $20.oo All these places are within 1/4 mile of me.

$20?

Soak 'em

I would like to place a snow-ban on my driveway. Didn't know there was that option.

I got a friend that works for the city... does a lot of plowing in winter. He talks about all of the people yelling and cursing at him as he drives by. People throw shovels at him all the time. I don't know what they expect him to do? They are probably the same people that complain when the road isn't plowed.
