Nortrac NB3500B Crawler Parts

I have a 5 year old Nortrac Crawler/Dozer that needs a new or rebuilt starter. I believe the solenoid is bad but suspect I cannot buy just the solenoid alone. Parts for the Nortrac crawler are much more difficult to come by reasonably than I was led to believe at purchase. Any thoughts on sources out there. Thanks, Butch Morrison

find someone who rebuilds starters and have yours repaired. Talk to your local tractor dealer and see if they know any one in the area.

If you can get the parts and are comfortable with doing it. You can tear that thing apart and rebuild it.

I rebuilt some starters before. There not that bad. I've also took 2 or 3 starters and made one.

But if your not comfortable then I would suggest to take it to have it repaired. :thumbsup:

I think the issue may be the off off off off brand china parts needed...

Might be simpler to retrofit one from a small car.

Post your parts needs in the chinese tractor forum. There are many dealers who read, and post there. I'm certain that one of them can help you with a new starter. Your starter is most likely used on many chinese tractors with the diesel engine that is in your dozer.

I have the nortrac dozer obviously you can try northern tool, more then likely they'll be out of the part you need. Try Circle G tractors they have a lot of parts, there prices are a bit high though. The best ones I had/have luck with is Tytan tractors, they were very reliable and treated me like a human. They're way up in the north west part of the state{far away}, but they still got my parts to me fairly quick.

As others have said it isn't all that hard to rebuild the starter as long as you're comfortable with it. I have rebuilt mine most of the time you'll find things are just rusted/gumed up.

Here is what I have found being a part time mechanic and a Chinese tractor owner. The parts are readily available and much cheaper if you know where to look. My tractor also need a starter and a thermostat housing. I got both dirt cheap compared to the Case, Ford, and JD equipment I take care of.

Look up Ranch Hand Supply, Circle G, Affordable Tractor, ect. These guys have all the parts on hand and the prices are right. I got a new starter for 1/3 the cost of a JD starter I had to replace on a similar sized tractor. I get parts in 1-2 days and find them easier to find than parts for my other tractor, a Ford 861 Powermaster.
