Power-Trac 1430 and Craftsman DGT6000
Does anyone own one of these or the like? I'm planning on buying it, then modifying it to fit my Power-Trac. It will run off the tractor's 12 GPM @ 2500 PSI - PTO. How well do these work?

Thanks for your help. Northern Tools

I have a Northern 3pt horizontal splitter that I run from the power beyond of my John Deere 4300. At 9 gpm, I wouldn't want it to be any slower. 12 gpm should be more than adequate.

If you buy the horizontal splitter, plan on reinforcing the top link arms. I bent mine on a six mile trip to my father in law's house. They're adequate for lifting logs but the constant bouncing on our rough Pennsylvania roads made them bend.

Also a good idea to check the separator plates in the slide. Mine was delivered with a rough spot on each side (probably a flame cutting issue) and started to gall the edges of the beam. A few minutes with a grinder solved the problem.

I bought one last fall and have been very pleased with it. I have the model that can be used horizontal, or vertical. Very strong and heavy duty. As already stated the operating speed is almost too slow. After about 3, or 4, hours of splitting the speed becomes just right. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I mounted mine on a small 4x4 trailer. I have the hydraulic lines set up so I can operate the splitter on the trailer without attaching it to the 3 pt. hitch. I can also attach it to the 3 pt. hitch and carry splitter and trailer, or just the splitter itself.

I would definitely recommend buying one.

Thanks Jim,
I'll have to reinforce it to fit on my power-trac anyway. It sounds like it is a good splitter.
