Northern tools store opening in my area

There is one on Interstate 20 in the Dallas area that I want to stop in just to look around, but so far, haven't had the time. I want a ladder rack for my truck and the one they have in their catalog is a very good price at $300. I've seen them on other trucks and like them, but I don't want to pay the $100 in shipping. It's a toss up, drive to Dallas to see if they even keep them in stock, order one from the store to save on shipping and pick it up or bite the bullet and pay for shipping. Being cheap isn't easy some times. LOL

I'm hoping they build one in Tyler, we could sure use a good variety tool store. Tractor Supply disapoints most of the time. There is a tool store in town for just tools, which is decent, but pricey. Then there are the box stores which is very limited on quality tools.

As for Harbor Freight, there grinding wheels are very good. Compared to DeWalt 4.5 inch wheels, I'd rather have the Harbor Freight ones.

Sunspot, you should have visited NT while you were in NC too. Lots of 'em around.

I wasn't to far from you. I was in Saxapahaw, just south of Burlington. I didn't have time to travel to the NT in Cary but the TSC was just up the road.

Eddie, I think you mean I-30 at Beltline instead of I-20. The one on I-30 is where I bought the arbor press and quite a number of other things several years ago. And now we have the newer one on I-35E just south of the old S.H. 121, (now Business 121) in Lewisville.

I didn't know about those two strores. The one I'm refering to is between 35W and 35E on I-20. You can see it as you drive by on I-20, but I've never actually stoped to go inside.

Yep, Eddie, I forgot about the one on I-20 in Grand Prairie. I've seen it from the Interstate but have never been in that one.

Welding supplies? Nice.. i gotta check it out. tsc is my only real weld supply store.. and they are always out of stuff. I do have a welding supply place in town.. but stock almost nothing..

The one I visit carries a good line of Hobart welders and some off brand stuff. Pretty good prices on MIG wire and a good selection of welding rods. They have small packs of rods if you need something like a 1/16" 7018 or something for a small project. Handy sometimes, but of course they're pretty pricey in 1 lb or 3 lb packs. I have their $49.95 self darkening hood. Works great. I actually like it better than the high dollar one my buddy has.

Sunspot if you were close to Burlington, you were about 2 1/2 hours from me. I'm about 30 miles west of Charlotte. If you went home on I-85 you passed within 1/2 mile of the NT in Gastonia.

Yeah, but my wife HATES the place! Nothing in there of interest to her and I usually mill around far too long. Maybe that $300 has something to do with it too!

What is it with TSC and the bare shelves? Perhaps they got to much management from the old Quality Farm & Country Store line they bought out a few years back?

I've ordered from the catalog.. but will have to go in and check this store over thiss weekend perhaps. hope this store has some implements!
