Well is everyone ready for the temperature shock we are in for the next two days,
the forecast is single digits and possibly below zero (Fahrenheit). Filled the truck up yesterday and added a good dose of Power Service,
added 5 gallons of kerosene to the tractor and a dose of Power Serve also in case she's needed.
Three of the tractors on the farm getting the same because they have to go every day.

I feel for you. We moved south 14 months ago. Can’t say we miss much about NY other than friends.

Sort of.
Added the fuel treatment to the tractor, got the tire chains and backblade on the tractor, got 4 studded tires on the wife’s car, drained the hot tub, mounted the snowblower and chains on the LX280, finally latched all the house windows, got the water hydrant standpipe in the unheated barn wrapped and heat traced (if it gets really cold, and it has, where all that exposed pipe conducts enough to busted an elbow 4’ down), put a partial lid on the horse’s water tub and added a heater to it, finally put all the garden hoses away and drained outside faucet pipe....

Only thing left is to adjust the garage door that’s out of square and leaves a 1” gap that lets the cold in. And eat turkey! (Butchered 3 turkeys last Wednesday)

I’m sure I missed about a dozen other things.

My nephew raised about 20 turkeys this year, had 28 till coyotes got them 4 days ago, he butchered yesterday for all his customers.

I got the studded tires on my truck and the wifes car last week, never took them of the sander truck, two of it's summer tires have chains on them just have to jack it up and swap tires and rims when that becomes necessary.

Yep, after a couple of really cold days back up to normal for the next month per long range forecasters.

My place is overrun with wild turkeys.
Never had any when I was a kid (70+ years ago), but they are everywhere now.
Have recently had as many as 24 at one time in my front yard. Some more sitting on the ridge of my house.
State reintroduced 20+ years ago, and now they are .... EVERYWHERE.
Even the Coyotes can't get them,(they can and do get the young poults) because they roost in the trees.
And .....wild turkey meat is truly more delicious than domestic turkey meat.

Yes we have a lot of wild turkeys here also, lots of flocks of 15 to 30 birds.
I enjoy the young drakes, preferably when I use a .22 on them. But my wife wont even consider eating one.
That may be from watching where they feed in the winter, right behind the manure spreaders in the fields.:drink:

I know you folks up there are really tired of the weather. At noon I watch Weather Underground and The Weather Channel (214 and 215 on Dish) and I see what you have had to put up with this past year. Crazy how both coasts are doing just the opposite.

I have an unknown blend of home heating oil, diesel and ATF in my mini excavator. It started on the 2nd use of the glow plugs. It was 6* that morning.

I do keep power servie around as well as 20 gal of kerosene.
