None running 1020

I don't have a lot of money to spend so I'm looking for a project tractor. I have a opportunity to acquire a Massey 1020 that isn't running. I think I could pick it up for around 2000. It has around 2000 hrs on it and it looks like I can get parts easy. It is a manual. This is what he has posted "WAS TOLD THE UNIT HAD BEEN SETTING FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. I TRIED TO GET IT
RUNNING BUT CAN NOT GET IT TO FIRE UP. UNIT WILL TURN OVER FINE AND SMOKE
COMES OUT OF THE STACK BUT WILL NOT RUN. I HAVE NOT A CLUE WHAT IS WRONG WITH
IT AND DO NOT HAVE TIME TO WORK ON IT.BATTERY IS BAD THAT IS IN IT
TRACTOR LOOKS TO BE IN GOOD OVERALL CONDITION NOTHING MISSING THAT I CAN SEE
OTHER THAN IT WILL NOT RUN..." This is all I know about this tractor. PLEASE give me your thoughts on this.

I think that kind of project is a 50/50. You will have to spend some money ???. If you do not have the skills it could turn into a money pit. To the right person with the skills it could go not too bad. If there is a problem with the engine / trans/ rear ????.
