Non-steel chain alternatives?

I am moving to my new place this week with a 800 ft. drive that has decorative pavers in various spots. I had chains on my garden tractor and when I spun my tires would scrape up the pavement. I now have my TC40D with a front plow and am considering chains. I thought at one point I had read or heard about some cable alternative to chains that would not scrape up the pavement. Has anyone used / heard of / have thoughts on such a product?

I used then for a few years on our higway trucks. Instant on, instant off and no need to jack the rigs up. They wear very well and give geat traction also. We always bought all out chains and other misc stuff from St. Pierre chains in Worcester MA. I believe that St. Pierre now has a web site. What you are talking about are actually tightly wound coils that so look like a cable more or less. They don't flatten out either,e ven when 9 yards of sand salt mix was loaded on these dump trucks. I'm trying to remember the cost and can't. Seems to me they were about 5% more than regualr chains and near zero hassle installing/removing them..

I have used Traction Aids made from rubber cross bars attached to circumferential steel chains. They are made by Hemler Manufacturing of Lancaster, PA. I don't think they have a website or sell direct, but you can order from Deer Creek Equipment of Oxford, PA. (800-255-6567) or http://www.dcequip.com. Ask for Dave Anderson. See also attached photo of my JD 955 with these chains. There is absolutely no damage to asphalt or concrete driveways with these chains.
