The hydraulic pump on my Zetor 8011 has become noisy because of an wrongly adjusted relief valve ( was turned in all the way against the spring)

The pump is easy to take out. Does it make sense to take it out to clean and inspect it? I think it is a gear pump.

How do I clean the system from debris? I found some metal in the relief valve.

Thanks for your insight.

Yes, pull the pump clean and inspect it, my educated guess is you will find wear/gouging in the intake side from the gears deflecting from overpressure. If the bearings are junk on the idler shaft [another symptom of overpressure] you will have to fix the pump now. If the pump will still run, clean the tank and filters, filter the old oil and put it back together with the relief adjusted down and run it to get the rest of the junk out of it. Then fix the pump, change filters and oil, adjust the relief down then bring it up to spec. and you will be good to go. The only other way to clean the system is to disassemble it. CJ
