No Time for the Little Guy

Yes JL, there are lots of great people that live in the cities and I hope no one thought that I meant anything against them. It's the traffic, the crowds and the hustle bustle that I don't like. It has nothing to do with the people.

I understand the porch sitting. I came in this evening and spent a few hours out working on a fence that I've been clearing out. For the most part, all I heard was mother nature and my neighbors horses off in the distance. The Eurasian Doves were adding a lot to the noise level, but they really sound great. Honestly though, I've been here so long that I sometimes take it for granted.

I live about 20 miles from the nearest four lane highway or railroad track and far enough away from DFW Airport that the airliners are high enough that I don't hear them either.

One thing that's interesting to observe is how city people are scared of the country. My Sister in Law jumps every time she hears a coyote or anything else that doesn't sound like a highway sound or a siren.

Sorry to cut up your post, but for me a lot of it IS the people. I just don't have time for it anymore. I work in a small city everyday, and I can't get shut of it quick enough at the end of the day. We're about 30 miles out, far enough for a decent commute yet firmly in the heart of God's country.

You're right though, it's funny how some folk are so intimidated by country living. Some "good" friends of ours were neighbours for 15 years, constantly back and forth when we lived in the suburbs. We've been moved into the new place for almost 2 years now, still haven't seen their faces at the door. I guess it's their loss, I've been in to visit quite a few times.

Yep and the sad thing is if they would take 10mins just to listen to the natural suroundings they would find it verry calming and relaxing. I went and mowed last night and stopped about dark30. Just sat on the old massey and watched about 30 deer in a field and heard a panther in the near by woods. I could have stayed there all night BUT i needed to get back home. Dont think id ever trade the country life for the city again.:thumbsup:
