I think you will be better served by doing it the way you did when you were a kid. We plant about 20 ac in food plots every year. We prefer the spray, mow, disk, broadcast and cover method. We have rented a drill in past years, but it is a bit problematic matching the plant date with the availability of the drill, transporting the drill to/from the farm center to planting area, and setting it up properly for depth/seed rate. The unit was a 12' Great Plains and we pulled it fine with a 85 hp tractor, but I wouldn't try it with something half that size.

Yes no doubt that worked, but modern methods trying to move away from that to no till for moisture retention and organic matter. Moisture retention is quite important here in Australia, we don't get a **** of lot of rain, it's the driest habitable continent on earth, we also don't have a very deep layer of topsoil.

No idea if these are available in AUS?

I think they're new on the market, and I haven't heard any feedback from anyone that actually owns one, but I've been interested in one myself.
