No Spark---I need hlp

I have an 8N (1946) 6V

I have power to the coil. I just put a new coil, rotor cap ,points and condensor in. Gapped the points a .015. The little copper strip from the condensor to points broke but I replaced that with a "new" piece.

I still am not getting any spark! Any ideas?

Plug wires may be old and not allowing current to flow through or one of your replacement parts was bad from the factory. Try another part if possible (take back for exchange) or it wasn't installed correctly. I had the same problem with my d4 cat and replaced my wires and it fired right up. Uncommon but happens

I'm guessing you either have a front mount 8n, or a 2n.. 2n was produced from 42 thru mid 47, then the 8n models picked up.. by 51 they were all side mount.

in any event.. the 9n, 2n, and front mount 8n all use the same sqaure coil, a dash mounted ignition resistor, and gap points at .015.. spark plugs at .025.. i like autolite 437 spark plugs, though champion h12 or h10 will work.

here's a test, put a test lamp in line with the wire running to the top of the coil, key on and crank over.. does the test lamp blink?

it should.

lamp on all the time is shorted condensor or points..

lamp never on, no power.. either open points, or bad key switch or open resistor or bad contacts.

quicky test is to jumper bat hot to top of coil and see if she starts.
