no reverse in high range tc33

I have a tc33 hst with 500 hrs on meter... the reverse gear seems to be weakening... little to none in high range. I have changed oil, and filters. and the oil seems to be full. bought this used 5 years ago with 300 hrs on meter.

any suggestions as to what needs to be done?

Have you checked under the footplate and floormat for some sort of obstruction to pedal travel in rev? May be nothing more than pedal not moving to full stroke.

Jerry Lee your TC33D has an HST transmission with both a forward and reverse pressure relief valve. If your pedals are fine as Harry suggested, it might be that you have a problem with the reverse pressure relief valve. It would make your tractor weak in all ranges, but in high range it would show the most. Just like a slipping clutch on a std transmission will slip more in high gears than low ones. Your dealer should be able to run a pressure test and verify if the relief valve is weak or defective.

There are "stop" bolts under the front and rear of your treadle pedal. Your rear stop bolt might have loosened up with use. Run the rear bolt down a little at a time to see if your condition improves.

thanks guys, it is weak across all ranges, most in high. I will check out the pedal. But my money is on the relief valve... would a little lucas help? It may be cheaper for me to put in a new valve.. any way for me to check this out or is this not for the DIYer?

By the time you buy all the stuff you'll need to do the checks, you could probably replace the valve. I would say certainly don't assume the relief is weak. That's why testing is so important. BTW: Hold your breath when you ask about the price of the relief valve. You may have to save your ice cream money for a month to pay for it.
