International tractor starts quickly, but will not run past slow idle for 5 to 10 minutes. Then gradually picks up speed but bogs down under load.

A diesel machine per chance? It could be even in Texas that you are being effected by the brutal cold gripping the nation and are experiencing fuel gelling. If not, it sounds like a fuel distribution problem of some sort. Look for simple things first such as excess sentiment in a filter, or air in fuel lines being introduced by a loose fitting, etc.

Lol at the "brutal cold"! ...64 deg here right now. Yes, diesel...
sounds like you're right on target with the filter, Arrow.

I'd put a new fuel filter in it before trying anything else.

If the problem remains, then it's time to drain the tank (make sure it's clean), disconnect all the fuel lines from the tank all the way to the injectors, and blast them with compressed air. If there are any rubber lines, it's possible they've deteriorated enough that they collapse with any sort of suction on them....so you'll want to replace those. Then, put it all back together with a fresh filter, and see what happens. If it still doesn't work, it could be a diaphragm or seal in the lift pump (not sure what model you're taking about, but most have a lift pump) going bad and letting in air. Last resort would be looking at the injector pump and injectors, but those are less likely (and usually have different signs of trouble).

very good suggestions. Thank you. I will try that first.
When the tractor was running good, it had unburned Diesel coming out the exhaust. Had plenty of power then, but I stunk like heck when I got off the tractor.

I have a friend who lives in Arizona that when he comes up here in spring visiting and with the kind of temps you mention, has his long sleeve T-shirt on, flannel shirt over that with a sweater over that and winter coat over that.
