Actually since Monday 2/16/09 at 12:35pm!!!

I started dipping Copenhagen in college 27 years ago. I have been hooked ever since. I have quit 100 times but never really wanted to quit so it would only last a day or two. Quit one time for a week but chewed a box of the nicotine gum. Since Copenhagen was cheaper than the gum I went back to dipping.

For some reason this time it is different. I stopped at lunch to get a can on 2/16 and they were out. And it just hit me...you want to quit...nows the time.

Withdraws are not as bad this time as the others, so I think I am going to make it. No nicotine gum except for the two pieces I carry in my pockets incase things get really bad. So far I have not used them.

Been reading on line about all the chemicals in you brain and system from years of nicotine. I want to see what changes this makes once I don't have it in my system.

Funny thing is I have never smoked and never wanted to smoke but this snuff is very addictive and it is going to be tough, very tough. But this time I really think I've got it beat.

Any body want to join in?

I went from a pack of cigarettes a day to probably less than a pack since 02/02/09. Two days since my last one.

I've used the patch a couple times but not regularly. I seemed to make my arm sore where I applied it. Maybe I should get some of the gum.

Don't start with the gum now. If you've made it two days, you're at the peak of withdrawal symptoms, and starting nicotine now will just prolong the problem. Stick it out a couple more days and you'll be done with the physical side - and just have the mental aspect to get over. See Nicotine Withdrawal for a good explaination.

Okay...why won't the thread title change once I edit. Anger and rage is one of the withdraws symptoms and I am experiencing them, least little thing sets me off...:mad::eek::).

I need to log out and check back later!

I've been rubbing copenhagen for about 40 years[started when I was 13-14!],and about 12 years of that I basicly did both rubbing and smoking,lungs told me to quit the smoking part,but been rubbing all along.

In my opinion[from experience] rubbing is safer and easier on your body than smoking,but you probably get more nicotine [by far] from rubbing copenhagen than camels. Will add that chewing/rubbing is a nasty habit,and not good for you,but several things I do are nasty and a couple not good for me.

I am not planning on quiting,soon anyways,but good luck to you.I could if I really wanted to,but don't want to,feels real relaxin in there,pinch between check and gum and all that stuff.

One real good reason to quit is the price,they got some cheap knockoffs and have tried a few but once you go copenhagen you won't go back! Long cut straight skoal[non mint] was alright but started getting grit in it.

Think I'll get a big juicy rub right now! UMM,NOW THAT HIT THE SPOT!
