Well, I ended up jumping ship in the effort to replace my 2305. Now I need orange paint for my implements! :D

JD just couldn't match up price or performance wise to Kubota, so I left the fold to go orange with a new L3800, loader, BH, forks, etc.

The JD dealer was $4K higher for a 2720 equipped about the same -- just couldn't justify the difference for a smaller tractor.

Thanks for the input from all you JD guys though...

Isn't the 3038e $4k less than a 2720 also? Either way you'll love that new L and all of its usefulness above and beyond your old Deere. Congrats!

Roughly. But I really wanted a BH and JD doesn't offer one in the 303xe series.

Isn't that the cool Kubota that has:

- a single element air cleaner

- the 1940's style steering shaft running down the right side of the engine with multiple universal joints

- the super exposed front tie rods that people bend all the time while bush-hogging

- the dry clutch for the PTO engagement

- the starter so small you have to push the clutch pedal to decouple the hydro from the engine so the engine can crank over

- the reinforcement beams from the loader to the spur drive rear axle housings so they or the clutch housing won't break when you try to push with the loader

That $4,000 was removed from some important places...IMHO.

It also is the one that comes from the company that basically invented the compact tractor market in this country.

I've always viewed Kubotas as being a little less 'refined' tractor than their Deere counterparts. With that said, there is no denying they are also very reliable long lasting tractors, and sometimes a better value.


We have both Deere and Kubota tractors working on our farm, each brand has models/size classes that are better than the other. Glad the op found one that fit their needs.
