No hydraulic strainer

I'm changing hydraulic oil and filters and removed the feed pipe to take out the strainer to clean it. There's no strainer! Should there be one or did Branson delete it in the 25 series?

The 15/F series don't have a strainer either.

Being that Branson uses a filter on the inlet side of the pump, I think that's ok not having a strainer.

I was checking some parts manuals and on the 20 series, the Pre 2014 models do have a strainer, while Post 2014 models won't have a strainer.

Thanks. I agree that the inlet filter should be plenty... it'd take a lot of junk to need a strainer in front of the filter. My 20 series shop manual printed 2015 shows the strainer. It's too bad that Branson's documentation does not keep up with their engineering.

BTW the floor of the transmission as far as I could reach in was totally clean and the magnet on the drain plug had just a tiny bit of metal powder on it. I've seen more than that on good condition motorcycle transmissions that have a fraction of the number of gears.

Oh cool that you found basically nothing. That's nice.

I'm about 35 hours shy of a major maintenance on mine. Changing all fluids and filters. I'm curious too see what I found on the transmission oil as it's still what came out from factory with.

The engine oil took 200 hours just to start getting dark.

The service manual for my 2016 3520H only shows one hydraulic filter but the tractor actually has two. I wonder if they got rid of the strainer and added a filter at the same time.

I may be incorrect, but I would think that the service manual is for the manual transmission not the hydrostatic. Hydro trans models have two filters.
