As we continue to do Hurricane Michael cleanup, we find creative ways to accomplish things quickly.

Huge pecan tree, uprooted by the storm but was too large to uproot completely with our Kubota's. No excavator was readily available. Sooooooooo..... Sawzall cut the 8" diameter tap root and hubby pushed the monster to the debris field. Video below.

Way to go, girl!
Necessity is the mother of invention.

I just want to know, why is it that you got down and dirty with the roots, while the other person got to stay in the cab tractor? :D

I use my 5 ton engine hoist to effectively remove most stumps. Sometimes use the sawzall to aide in the process. Works really nice for tight places.

BigFoot62 - that question has an easy answer. The person with the blue shirt cleans up a lot easier than that fellow with the fur coat.

Removed many stumps that size with a shovel pinch bar and Sawzall. A machine like that makes a walk in the park.:drink:

The reason I was cutting and my hubby was in the tractor is...........

The unwritten law at our house is: Who ever dreams up the fix to a problem, buys the tool or toy etc... gets the maiden voyage if they want.

This was my Country Girl Fix to hundreds of root balls in grassy areas that we don't really want the excavator to have to pull the stumps. They would make a mess of where we will have to mow. I WANTED to take that maiden voyage with the Milwaukee Sawzall on our test stump. Time wise it was 10 minutes on the first one so that is awesome. I am ecstatic that it worked just like in my head...... and I am just a giiirrrrrrrrrrrl :dance1:

10 minutes on the first one means we should be able to improve that time and thus a reasonable solution! Me and hubby are a great team!!! :drink:

Saws-alls work great if you can get at the root without jamming / bending the blade in the surrounding dirt.
I use old worn out chainsaw chains for down in the dirt "root chains", where you might be able to cut a few before they go dull and you have to throw on another one.

Way to go Sandra. If you can envision a solution to a problem in your head, you are at least half way there to solving that problem. And you did!.
