Saw somewhere the other day that over $5 billion a year could be saved by eleminating subsidies for ethanol. Just makes sense to stop thrownig money away like that. Maybe that's the problem?

Also,ethanol won't do much about reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

Natural gas, on the other hand, is relatively cheap, abundant and LOCAL. IMHO, if our government really wanted to stimulate the economy we'd be working on making CNG a bigger element in our transportation fuel supply.

The biggest problem I have with ethanol in gas is the fact that they make it from corn. I have a diary goat farm, and my feed prices have doubled in the past year due to the rising price of corn. Ethanol can be made from any organic material. It makes no sense to use corn to produce it. You can even use garbage to make ethanol. But using corn to make ethanol may be putting me out of business.
