I'm the original owner of a 15 year old TC33D NH tractor with the 7308 FEL. Last fall I changed out all of the hydraulic fluids/filters and all seemed to go well. However, I recently noticed occasional "hissing" when I lower the FEL, but more importantly I don't believe I'm getting any "down pressure." Of course, not something I would typically be in need of, but if I recall correctly, I used to be able to lift the front end off the ground with the down motion on the FEL. Can no longer do, but the FEL works great in all other respects - lifts fine and the bucket rolls properly. Any thoughts?

There is usually a flow restrictor on the down function. Seems odd you would just now be hearing that... When you curl the bucket forward then go down, it will not lift the front end off the ground?

We have the TC40D with a 16LA FEL. With the bucket flat it will only lift the "pressure" off the front tires but does not lift then from the ground. Using the curl will lift the front off the ground. This action is used when "back-blading" for grade work.

Since "gravity" will help in dumping a bucket and if you never grade it could be you have bad seals in the curls cylinder(s). You can check this by hanging the bucket in the air and seeing if the curl will move the bucket all the way back when in the dump position. If it won't, definitely some sort of cylinder problem. If it does, lower the bucket to the ground with the blade straight down. Use the lift to raise the tractor. If it will not lift the tractor you have a problem with the "lift" function - either cylinder(s) or control.

Possibly a low relief pressure setting.

Thanks for the refplies. I went out and tested the "curl" and that will definitely raise the front end off the ground. I believe I'm experiencing the same pressure off the front end as Qapla described, so hopefully everything is good. I guess I was just getting a bit parinoid about the hissing when lowering the FEL...
