No 3ph Lift on Kubota L345

Help!

I got down to the in-laws to pick up the tractor and head up to the ridge, and found that the rubber pipe on the hydraulic line just behinfd the filter had split and all the hydraulic fluid had run out. Replaced the line and refilled the reservoir with 6 gals of fluid. No action on the 3ph!

My service manual (published by Jensales) says in the capacities section that the tractor takes 5.8 gallons of transmission fluid. In the service section it says that it takes 31.7 quarts (8 gals)! Since the 3ph wasn't working, we added another 2 gals, but no change.

Another point to note is that the lift lever seems to have very little resistance. Are we missing something? Is there a line we need to bleed or a valve that needs to be opened?

Bill, the hyd pump may be worn enough to need a little help priming. If you have compressed air handy you can GENTLY pressurize the trans case by putting a blow gun in the trans fill hole, wrap a rag around it and introduce a little air into the housing while the tractor is running. It doesn't take much. Make sure all hyd powered implements are in neutral and the 3 ph lever is down to avoid any surprises when the pump primes. The lever having no resistence could be the friction washers need to be tightened. Could also mean valve problems but I'd give that a try first. If you don't have air, maybe try getting the back of the tractor higher than the front.

Thanks for your help. We went out this morning and after a few minutes it started working fine. We took it out to the property and worked all day with no problems. Most likely it is what you suggested, just needed a little help - or a good nights sleep. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
